4-Aminoisoindoline-1,3-dione is a molecule that binds to the histone deacetylase enzyme, which reverses the effects of DNA methylation and gene silencing. It has been shown to have activity against HDAC inhibitors. The fluorescence properties of 4-aminoisoindoline-1,3-dione are sensitive to changes in pH and can be used for monitoring hydrogen ion concentration.
