2-Amino-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine is a triazine compound that is used as a raw material for the production of cyanuric chloride. It has been used in the spectrometric analysis of nuclei and olefinic constants. In addition, it is commonly used in the synthesis of 2-amino4,6-dimethoxy-N-(2,4,6,-trichlorophenyl)benzamide (30084-87), which is an intermediate for the production of herbicides. The reaction between 2-amino4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine and chloroacetonitrile produces cyanuric chloride and hydrogen chloride. This reaction can be catalyzed by either acid or alkali.
