Product Information
2-Amino-3-methylbenzonitrile is a synthetic chemical that is used as a pesticide. It is synthesized by reacting 2-aminoethylaniline with methylcyanide. The synthesis process starts with the reaction of aniline and methylcyanide in an aqueous solution to produce methylamine and formaldehyde. Methanol is then added to neutralize the formaldehyde, leading to the formation of 2-aminoethylaniline hydrochloride salt. This salt is then heated in an organic solvent such as ethanol or acetone to make it soluble, before adding nitrile gas to produce 2-amino-3-methylbenzonitrile.
