2-((2-Amino-4-nitrophenyl)amino)ethanol is a quaternary ammonium compound that has been used as a biocide in cosmetics, such as hair dyes, and personal care products. It is also used as an animal repellent and to control the growth of mold and mildew in buildings. 2-((2-Amino-4-nitrophenyl)amino)ethanol has been shown to be carcinogenic when administered chronically via oral gavage to rats. This chemical has not been associated with any allergic reactions in humans.
