Description:
1-(2-Amino-5-chlorophenyl)ethanone is a reagent for the synthesis of heterocycles. It is used in organic chemistry to synthesize chalcones and iodides. 1-(2-Amino-5-chlorophenyl)ethanone is also a reagent in the synthesis of tetracyclines, which are antibiotics that inhibit protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes. This compound has been shown to be a strong oxidizing agent, with acidic properties. It can be used to form orthophosphoric acid when reacted with an acid such as phosphoric acid or sulfuric acid. 1-(2-Amino-5-chlorophenyl)ethanone yields can be determined by measuring the amount of water formed during dehydration reactions, or by measuring the mass lost on heating under vacuum (yields).
