Description:
4-Amino-N-methylbenzenemethanesulfonamide is a catalyzed, substituent derivative of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT). It is a serotonergic neurotransmitter that has been shown to cause vasodilation and decrease hemicrania. The drug has been used as an antidepressant for the treatment of depression. It also has been shown to be effective in the treatment of migraine with or without aura. 4-Amino-N-methylbenzenemethanesulfonamide is not active against depression when it is deficient in serotonin. This drug can be used as a transition agent for indoles because it is halogenated, which means that it can be converted into other compounds, such as benzene.
