Product Information
4-Azaphthalide is a heterofunctional monocarboxylic acid that is used as a crosslinking agent. It reacts with amines, hydroxyl groups, nitro groups and carboxylates to form esters, amides, oximes, ureas and carbamates. 4-Azaphthalide can be used to produce polymers by condensation reactions. The ring-opening reaction of lactams with 4-azaphthalide has been shown to be catalyzed by the enzyme laccase. 4-Azaphthalide is also a reactive molecule that undergoes photolysis in the presence of UV light or nitric oxide. This reaction produces emissions such as nitrogen dioxide and nitric acid.
