- 3-Aminopyrazine-2-Carbonitrile
3-Aminopyrazine-2-carbonitrile is a chemical compound that can be synthesized by reacting ethyl orthoformate with formaldehyde and a formylating agent such as dimethyl amine. 3-Aminopyrazine-2-carbonitrile has been shown to react with chloride to form a chlorinated derivative, which in turn reacts with trifluoroacetyl chloride to yield an imine. The imine can then be hydrolyzed by water or triethyl orthoformate to release the desired product. 3-Aminopyrazine-2-carbonitrile is used as a precursor for the production of antibiotics such as ampicillin, erythromycin, and tetracyclin.
