2-Amino-5-bromobenzamide is an amide that is a potent inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It binds to the EGFR with high affinity and inhibits the signalling pathway, which leads to cell death. 2-Amino-5-bromobenzamide has been shown to inhibit cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by targeting the EGFR. This drug also inhibits autophagy, a process that helps cells survive under stress conditions. 2-Amino-5-bromobenzamide has been shown to be highly cytotoxic against MCF-7 breast cancer cells and has significant cytotoxicity against other cancer cells.
