2-Amino-2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)acetic acid (ATPA) is a carboxylic acid that belongs to the class of carboxylic acids. It has been shown to be expressed in plants and is industrially produced from oxalic acid, which is converted to ATPA through hydrolysis reaction. ATPA has been demonstrated as a neutralizing agent for carboxylic acid and is used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics. ATPA hydrolyzes rapidly in water to form acetate, carbon dioxide, and ammonia.
