Product Information
- (2-Amino-pyridin-4-yl)-methanol
- 2-Amino-4-(Hydroxymethyl)Pyridinium
- 2-Amino-4-pyridinemethanol
2-Aminopyridin-4-ylmethanol is a chemical compound that is used as a research tool in kinase selectivity studies. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase and phosphodiesterase, but does not inhibit ATPases. 2-Aminopyridin-4-ylmethanol has also been shown to have efficacy against intestinal protozoan parasites such as coccidian species, including Eimeria tenella, and Entamoeba histolytica. This drug is metabolized through hydrolysis by formamidase or other aminopyridine N-acetyltransferases to formamide and 2-aminopyridine. Formamide can cause cancer in laboratory animals and humans, while 2-aminopyridine is a carcinogen that causes liver tumors in rats.
