This compound has been shown to have significant activity against multi-drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates in the test tube. 2-Amino-6-hydroxybenzoic acid also has antitubercular activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit aerobic respiration in Mycobacterium tuberculosis cells.
