2-Amino-5-bromo-3,4-di-cyanopyrole is a potential anti-cancer agent that has been studied for its ability to selectively kill cancer cells. This compound was found to have the highest cytotoxicity against prostate cancer cells in a molecular modeling study. The mechanism of action for 2-amino-5-bromo-3,4-di-cyanopyrole is debromination and chloride ion release, which leads to cancer cell death. 2 aminobroamino 5 bromo 3 4 di cyanopyrole has also been shown to be active against herpes simplex virus type 1, which is an important causative agent of genital herpes. In addition, this compound can be used as an analog for other compounds with similar structures. The nmr spectra of 2 aminobroamino 5 bromo 3 4 di cyanopyrole are characteristic of the parent compound.
