3-Aminobenzylamine is an amine that binds to the adenosine receptor. It has been shown to inhibit the membrane potential in mitochondria by decreasing the mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibiting ATP synthesis. 3-Aminobenzylamine does not have a strong affinity for adenosine receptors, but it can be used as a probe for studying these receptors. The compound is synthesized using ammonium persulfate, which is oxidized to generate imines and then reacted with primary amines. 3-Aminobenzylamine is commonly used as a reagent in electrochemical methods to detect low concentrations of ammonia and primary amines, such as amino acids or peptides.
