Description

(1S,2S,5R,6S)-2-Aminobicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2,6-dicarboxylicacid is a glutamate analog that has been shown to bind to the metabotropic glutamate receptor and inhibit glutamate binding. This drug has been shown to be effective in treating Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia by inhibiting the effects of glutamate on dopamine release in the brain. This drug is not soluble in water and must be reconstituted with a diluent before it can be administered. It also has poor bioavailability due to its low solubility and must be administered parenterally or intravenously for optimal efficacy.
