Product Information

Name:
1,3,5-Adamantanetriol
Synonyms:
  • Adamantane-1,3,5-triol
  • Tricyclo[3.3.1.1~3,7~]Decane-1,3,5-Triol
Description:

1,3,5-Adamantanetriol is a synthetic reactive functional group that is used in the dehydration of 1-adamantanol. It reacts with acetylacetonate to form an ester and a hydroxyl group. The viscosity of 1,3,5-Adamantanetriol is high and it has a low surface tension, which makes it suitable for impregnating fabrics to make them waterproof or lubricating surfaces. This compound also reacts with oxidizing agents to form a molecule with two reactive functional groups. It can be used as an additive in polymers such as polyester and polyurethane to produce reactive diisocyanates.
