Anhydrovinblastine is a monoterpenoid indole alkaloid that is the major product of vinca alkaloids. It has been shown to inhibit transcription by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and preventing the initiation of transcription. Anhydrovinblastine has also been shown to have an antitumor effect in tissue culture. It inhibits the production of growth factor, which may be due to its ability to bind to surface methodology and prevent the binding of growth factor with its receptor. The antibody against anhydrovinblastine has been successfully produced by immunizing mice with this drug. This antibody can be used as a reagent for detecting, identifying, or purifying anhydrovinblastine in various solutions or tissues.
