6-Amino-nicotinic acid is a phenoxy compound that contains two nitro groups. The molecule has a dihedral angle of 120° and the nitro groups are located on the para position. 6-Amino-nicotinic acid has been found to be crystallized in the form of a white powder. It is soluble in water, methanol, and ethyl acetate and has an molar mass of 226 g/mol. This compound also exhibits strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding which can be seen by the lengths of its hydrogen bonds. 6-Amino-nicotinic acid has been studied for its potential use as a radiation sensitizer in cancer radiotherapy treatment. It is sensitive to picrate (a type of explosive) and reacts with chloride ions in solution. 6-Amino nicotinic acid has been used as an intermediate for other syntheses such as dyes and pharmaceuticals, including antihistamines,
