(2S,4R)-1-(2-Aminoacetyl)-4-benzamidopyrrolidine-2-carboxylicacid is a molecule that belongs to the group of growth factors. It is a potent inhibitor of cardiac and renal fibrosis and has been shown to reduce the size of myocardial infarcts in rats. The mechanism of action of this compound is not yet known. However, it has been shown to be effective at reducing fibrosis in experimental models by blocking the synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins and inhibiting inflammation, suggesting that it may inhibit collagen production. The effects of this drug are mediated by its ability to inhibit cellular physiology through binding to danegaptide sequences on the surface of cells.
