It reacts with 4-nitrophenyl chlorides to form the diazonium salt and hydroxylamine which can then be reduced by catalytic hydrogenation or hydrolyzed by hydrochloric acid. The product of this process is 5-(aminomethyl)-1-phenyl-1H-[1,2,3]triazole.
