- Azetidin-3-Amine
- Azetidin-3-Amine Dihydrochloride
- 3-Azetidinamine dihydrochloride
3-Aminoazetidine is a chemical compound that serves as a linker for the synthesis of fluoroquinolones. It has been shown to be chemically stable and resistant to reuptake by cells. 3-Aminoazetidine binds to the bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. This binding inhibits the production of proteins vital for cell division, leading to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis. 3-Aminoazetidine has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, with an IC50 value of 0.3 µg/ml against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
