Description

2-Amino-6-ethylpyridine is a chemical that is structurally related to the amino acid lysine. It inhibits the phosphodiesterase activity of RNA polymerase II and III, which are enzymes responsible for the synthesis of cellular proteins. This inhibition leads to an increase in camp levels, which stimulates lymphatic vessels and increases growth factor production. 2-Amino-6-ethylpyridine has been shown to induce chronic pulmonary inflammation in rats, and has also been shown to be effective against colorectal carcinoma and other viruses. 2-Amino-6-ethylpyridine is used as a negative control in analytical methods. Linear regression analysis can be performed on this compound because it does not interfere with DNA synthesis or protein synthesis.
