Product Information
- 3-Pyridinol, 2-Amino-5-Chloro-
2-Amino-3-hydroxy-5-chloropyridine is an activator of the human plasminogen activator system. It is a competitive inhibitor of plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) and has been shown to stimulate urokinase activity in vitro. 2-Amino-3-hydroxy-5-chloropyridine binds to the enzyme 4-hydroxyindole O-methyltransferase, which converts 4 hydroxyindole into indole. This conversion leads to a decrease in the production of 3 aminocarboxymuconate semialdehyde, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of serotonin and melatonin. The effect on serotonin levels may be responsible for its antidepressant activity.
