Product Information
- 2-Pyridinecarbonitrile, 6-Amino-
- 2-Amino-6-cyanopyridine
6-Aminopicolinonitrile is a functionalized tetracyclic compound that has been synthesized by treating 6-nitrochloroquinoline with an excess of ammonia. This reaction produces the corresponding aminomalonic acid, which is then treated with formaldehyde to produce the desired product. The compound has been shown to be thermally stable and undergoes a transition from the orthorhombic phase to the tetracyclic phase at high temperatures. It has also been shown to have nucleophilic properties, as well as intramolecular reactions that are dependent on its functional groups. Experimental work has revealed that this molecule can react with hydroxyl ions and pyridines in methanol, leading to dehydration. The x-ray diffraction data obtained for this molecule reveal a strong hydrogen bonding network between the six nitrogens and oxygen atoms.
