Description

1-Amino-2-propanone is a reactive compound that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, perfumes, and explosives. 1-Amino-2-propanone is an intermediate in the synthesis of methyl ethyl ketones, which are used as solvents. In addition to its use as a chemical intermediate, 1-amino-2-propanone has been found to be an effective inhibitor of bowel disease and chronic arthritis. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cells and to prevent the accumulation of methylglyoxal in cells. The nitrogen atoms in this compound can form hydrogen bonds with other compounds such as aminoacetone, which may lead to biological properties that are not fully understood.
