1-Aminocyclobutanecarbonitrile (ACC) is a reagent for the synthesis of regioselective 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds. It can be used with a Grignard reagent to synthesize cycloalkyl groups from alkenes. The ACC also has the ability to form a cyanohydrin when exposed to a Grignard reagent, which can then be converted into a carboxylic acid or an alkenyl group.
