- 2-Amino-3-cyano-4-hydroxythiophene
- 2-Amino-4-hydroxy-3-thiophenecarbonitrile
2-Amino-3-cyano-4-hydroxythiophene is a pyridine that has been found to react with malononitrile and hydrosulfide in the presence of a catalytic amount of thiophene. The reaction system can be used for the synthesis of various isomers, such as 2-thioglycolic acid, which is an intermediate in the production of thioglycolic acid. The substance also reacts with ethanol to form methylate. 2-Amino-3-cyano-4-hydroxythiophene can be used as a building block for synthesizing thioglycolic acid, which is then converted into thioglycolates. This process may be useful for the synthesis of substances that are difficult to produce synthetically.
