Description:
(R)-2-Amino-3-methoxypropanoic acid is an amino acid that is naturally found in human liver as well as in other tissues. It is a metabolite of the amino acid methionine and can be synthesized by enzymatic conversion from (S)-2-amino-3-hydroxypropanoic acid. It is used for the synthesis of lacosamide, a drug for the treatment of epilepsy. The racemic form of this molecule can be resolved using column chromatography or chiral high pressure liquid chromatography.
