2-Amino-3-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenyl)propanoic acid (DIPI) is an analytical method for measuring diiodotyrosine in the presence of sodium citrate. DIPI is used to measure the concentration of diiodotyrosine in wastewater and human serum. DIPI is also used to measure the concentration of diiodotyrosine in the presence of other iodinated derivatives that are found in glycoside derivatives, such as 2-amino-3-[2-(2,4,6-trihydroxyphenyl)ethoxy]propanoic acid. The high reactivity of DIPI allows it to be detected by mass spectrometry. This compound can be used as a marker for autoimmune diseases and transfer reactions.
