Product Information
- 2-Aminobenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid
- 2,6-Dicarboxy Aniline
2-Aminoisophthalic acid is a polycarboxylic acid that contains two carboxyl groups and two amine groups. It is used in the industrial preparation of coumarin derivatives, which are aromatic compounds. 2-Aminoisophthalic acid can be synthesized by reacting aniline with phthalic anhydride in the presence of a proton or hydrogen gas and a base catalyst. This chemical reacts with halides to form substituted amines, and can be reduced to isophthalic acid. 2-Aminoisophthalic acid may also be prepared by the iodination reaction of acetoacetic ester in the presence of sodium hydroxide, followed by hydrolysis.
