Product Information
3-Amino-4-(methylamino)benzonitrile is a pyridine compound that has insecticidal activity. 3-Amino-4-(methylamino)benzonitrile is synthesized from the reaction of pyridine with methylamine, and is shown to be active against the Colorado potato beetle and the corn rootworm. This compound binds to the amine receptor in the insect's nervous system, causing a blockage of neurotransmitter release at synapses. Insects are then unable to move or feed, and eventually die. The compound also shows some evidence for being an inhibitor of RNA splicing, which could lead to potential anti-cancer treatments.
