3-Aminobenzo[d]isothiazole 1,1-dioxide is a novel synthetic compound that has been shown to induce apoptosis in bladder cancer cells. This compound is synthesized by the condensation of 3-aminobenzo[d]isothiazole and an amine, mediated by an acidic catalyst. The compound has been shown to have anti-cancer properties as well as a low yield. The major impurity in this reaction is 3-[(3-aminobenzoyl)oxy]-1,1-dimethylethyl benzoate. The crystal x-ray diffraction technique was used to confirm the identity of the product and its purity.
