This compound can be used as an amide or an ester and has been shown to form polymers with various backbones. 3-Aminophenylacetic acid methyl ester is fluorescent and shows a characteristic FTIR band at 1727 cm-1. Elemental analysis shows that this compound contains nitrogen (N), carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O).
