It has good thermal stability, with a melting point of about 270 degrees Celsius. 3-Aminophenylacetic acid methyl ester is soluble in water and alcohols, with viscosities ranging from 1.1 to 10 Pa·s at 25 degrees Celsius. This compound can be used as an amide or an ester and has been shown to form polymers with various backbones. 3-Aminophenylacetic acid methyl ester is fluorescent and shows a characteristic FTIR band at 1727 cm-1. Elemental analysis shows that this compound contains nitrogen (N), carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O).
