Product Information
- 2(1H)-pyridinone, 3-acetyl-
- 3-Acetylpyridin-2(1H)-one
3-Acetyl-2(1H)-pyridinone (3AP) is a heterocyclic compound that can be synthesized in two steps. In the first step, 3-acetyl-4(1H)-pyridinone is reacted with morpholine and acetic anhydride to form 3AP. This reaction can be carried out efficiently by using a microwave oven. 3AP has been shown to have growth inhibitory effects on certain bacteria, such as Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and Escherichia coli O157:H7. It also inhibits the production of fatty acids from lipids, which is important for maintaining blood pressure levels. The structure of 3AP has been determined by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. The amino acid composition of 3AP has been determined by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis.
