Product Information

Name:
5-Aminothiazole-4-carboxamide
Synonyms:
  • 5-Amino-4-thiazolecarboxamide
Description:

5-Aminothiazole-4-carboxamide is a nitrogenous organic compound. It is a purine derivative that contains an exocyclic amino group and has been used in the synthesis of nucleoside analogues for use as antimetabolites, anti-cancer drugs, and antiviral agents. 5-Aminothiazole-4-carboxamide can be synthesized by reacting aniline with ethyl isocyanate followed by hydrolysis to produce the desired product. The regiospecificity of this reaction is determined by the position of the exocyclic amino group relative to the carboxylic acid group. The efficiency of this process has been improved by using microwave irradiation.
