Veralipride is a drug that is used in the treatment of refractory cases of nausea and vomiting. Veralipride is a prodrug that is converted to 2-(aminomethyl)pyrrolidin-N-oxide (AMPA) in vivo. It has been shown to be effective against the emesis associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and postoperative nausea and vomiting due to its ability to inhibit gastric emptying. The pharmacokinetics of veralipride has been studied using liquid chromatography with an isocratic elution system. This study found that veralipride was rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and had a half-life of less than one hour.
