Description:

L-Aspartic acid sodium salt anhydrous is a metabolite of the amino acid L-aspartate. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds, such as glutamic acid and oxaloacetic acid, and is also a component of some proteins. L-aspartic acid has been shown to have a number of effects on the body. It stimulates fertility in adult males, increases growth hormone secretion in humans and animals, improves learning ability in rats, and enhances the immune system. Aspartic acid may be found in infant formulas because it is important for metabolism of carbohydrates and for the production of antibodies. One study has shown that aspartic acid can prevent glutamate from binding to receptors on nerve cells and activating them, which reduces excitotoxicity. In addition to its use as a food additive or dietary supplement, L-aspartic acid sodium salt anhydrous can be used as an enzyme catalyst to produce citrulline from lysine
