Product Information
(S)-2-Amino-4-methyl-N-phenylpentanamide is an inhibitor of the enzyme transpeptidase, which is involved in the synthesis of peptides. It also inhibits a number of other enzymes that are involved in protein synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit plant diseases caused by fungi and bacteria. This compound is activated by fluorine and chlorine and has a kinetic half life of about 3 hours after oral administration. It has a residue half life of about 4 hours after intravenous injection. The (S) enantiomer is metabolized faster than the (R) enantiomer, but both are metabolized to 2-amino-4-methylpentanoic acid. The (S) form may be hydrolyzed by alkoxy radical or amide hydrolysis, while the (R) form may be hydrolyzed by alkoxycarbonyl or carbonyl group hydrolysis.
