Product Information
Acetohydroxamic acid is a degradable compound that is used in the treatment of viral diseases. Acetohydroxamic acid inhibits the activity of carnitine palmitoyltransferase, which is an enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism. It has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of herpes simplex virus and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in tissue culture. Acetohydroxamic acid also inhibits the enzyme catalysis of pyrimidine nucleosides, which are necessary for the replication of these viruses. Acetohydroxamic acid has a reactive group that can be conjugated to a variety of substances including fatty acids, which may have applications in tumor therapy and drug delivery.
