Product Information
N-Acetyl-phytosphingosine is a sphingoid base found in mammalian cells. It functions as a repressor of gene transcription and also inhibits the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. N-Acetyl-phytosphingosine has been shown to have anticancer activity, which may be due to its ability to dephosphorylate and inhibit protein kinase C. This compound is synthesized from phytosphingosine by sphingosine kinase and hydrolyzed by phosphatases. N-Acetyl-phytosphingosine can be obtained from the reaction of trehalose with ubiquitin monomer.
