Product Information

Name:
Arteannuin H
Description:

Arteannuin H is a potent inhibitor of fatty acid synthase. It has been shown to inhibit the biosynthesis of lipids in the cell by inhibiting the enzyme fatty acid synthase. Arteannuin H inhibits the production of fatty acids and decreases the dry weight, lipid content, and total lipids in mice. The gene sequence for Arteannuin H was determined using a combination of high-throughput sequencing and DNA synthesis. The molecule was found to be a terpene with a farnesyl diphosphate side chain that is derived from geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate. Arteannuin H also inhibits spontaneous tumorigenesis in mouse skin tissue. This inhibition may be due to its ability to block the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by blocking lipid peroxidation and photooxidation reactions during cellular metabolism.
