8-Amino-2-methylquinoline is an organic solvent that is a member of the amide family. It is used in tissue culture to provide nutrients for cells and to dissolve diazonium salt. 8-Amino-2-methylquinoline also has bioactive properties, as it is a metal ion chelator and can be used to remove toxic metals from the environment. The structure of 8-amino-2-methylquinoline consists of a methyl group attached to a 2-aminoethyl group, which forms an amide bond with the carboxylic acid group.
