It is a chromatographic stationary phase and it has been used in the development of cancer vaccines. The asymmetric synthesis of (S)-(+)-4-amino-3-hydroxybutyric acid was achieved by using an allyl bromide as an electrophile and a chiral phosphoric acid as an enantioselective reagent.
