Acarbose EP Impurity A has been shown to be toxic to bacteria, such as actinomyces, when used in bioengineering. It has been shown to have solubility in organic solvents and seed culture. Acarbose EP Impurity A also inhibits the growth of bacteria, such as aluminum oxide, by forming aluminum hydroxide crystals that are toxic to cells.
