Acetonitrile-D3 is a compound that contains a hydroxyl group and a nitrogen atom. It is used as a diagnostic agent in kinetic data, FT-IR spectroscopy, and chemical reactions. Acetonitrile-D3 has been shown to form stable complexes with acidic molecules such as phosphoric acid. The reaction mechanism for the formation of these complexes is not yet known. This compound can be used to measure the concentration of alcohols, amines, and nitro compounds in test samples. Acetonitrile-D3 also has a deuterium isotope effect on chemical reactions, which may be due to the strength of hydrogen bonds formed between the compound and other reactants.
