Product Information
- 3-Amino-5-Chlorophenol
3-Amino-5-chlorophenol is a substituted phenol that is obtained through the transformation of 3-amino-4,6-dichlorophenol. This compound can be synthesized by substituting one or two hydrogen atoms on the phenolic ring with an amino group. The transformation yields are high and can be increased further by adding cyclopentadiene to the reaction mixture. Quantum yields for this reaction are initially low, but increase as the chlorinated product is formed. There are three isomers of 3-amino-5-chlorophenol, specifically ortho-, meta-, and para-. All forms react with carbonitrile in a photochemical reaction to produce chlorinated products. The specificity of this reaction depends on the position of substitution on the aromatic ring.
