Description:
(+/-)-2-Aminoheptane sulfate is a decongestant that is used to treat nasal congestion. It has been shown to constrict blood vessels and reduce nasal secretions, which are the major symptoms of nasal congestion. The drug has also been shown to have a stimulatory effect on the respiratory system and can be used in conjunction with other drugs when treating patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. (+/-)-2-Aminoheptane sulfate has been shown to produce statistically significant improvements in inspiratory flow and functional capacity in patients with bronchial asthma. However, it has not been found to be effective in treating nonallergic rhinitis or vasomotor rhinitis.
