Product Information
- (2S,2'S)-2,2'-Iminodisuccinic acid (non-preferred name)
2,2'-Azanediyldisuccinic acid (ADA) is a diamide derivative that is used to remove iron from wastewater. It reacts with iron in the presence of citric acid and a metal hydroxyl complex to form an insoluble complex that precipitates out of solution. ADA also reacts with ethylene diamine to form a stable white solid that can be filtered out of solution or converted back into ADA by adding sodium hydroxide. Furthermore, ADA has been shown to have detergent properties and is also used in neutralizing fatty acids found in industrial wastewater.
