Product Information
- N-[2-(3,4,5-Trimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]acetamideN-Acetyl-3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamineNSC 326675
N-Acetyl mescaline is a phenethylamine that has been found in the leaves and bark of the South American tree, Colchicum autumnale. It can be synthesized by reacting 3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine with acetic anhydride. The oxidases in animal tissues can convert N-acetyl mescaline to colchicine, which is a potent toxin. The kinetic constants for N-acetyl mescaline are pH dependent and it has been shown to be an optimal reaction at pH 4. In animals, this chemical has been shown to bind to specific antibodies that are antigen specific.
